British Blind Sport asked us to undertake a research project which would examine the experiences of young people with a visual impairment in sport.  This research was to be used to help them to determine their work programme and resource allocation for the next few years.

We surveyed a wide range of people with a visual impairment aged 11 - 25 by means of a questionnaire.   We also undertook a series of in depth interviews with young people in a variety of different schools in the South West, South East, East and North East of England.   In addition we contacted a number of sports development officers and many organisations involved in visually impaired sport.

The final report was completed in July 2005 and can be accessed by the following link:

This report was funded by the Big Lottery Fund and has contributed towards an award of £900,000 towards the costs of delivering new programmes to young blind and partially sighted people
